The 8 hacks

  1. Halving tomatoes simultaneously: Make it easy for yourself! Place all the tomatoes in a lid and place another lid on top. Then, cut with a sharp knife between the two lids while pressing down on the top lid, and you'll have perfectly halved tomatoes.
  2. More lemon juice: By rolling a lemon over the counter or a cutting board first, more juice will come out of the fruit when you squeeze it.
  3. Removing strawberry hulls: You can easily remove the hull from strawberries by pushing a straw through the middle; the hull will be pushed out with the straw.
  4. Making your own spice blends: Use a coffee grinder to grind spices, such as pepper, cloves, red peppers, and oregano. You can also mix different spices together.
  5. Peeling potatoes without a knife: You can easily peel potatoes by boiling them, then shocking them in ice water, and the skin will slide off easily.
  6. Cutting onions without crying: The substance released by onions that makes you cry is sulfur. By moistening your knife and cutting board before cutting the onion, the sulfur will adhere to the moisture on the board and not to the moisture in your eyes.
  7. Steaming vegetables with a colander: No steamer basket at home? Use a colander and place it over a pan with a small amount of boiling water, put the lid on, and steam away. Choose a metal colander instead of plastic, as plastic can melt.
  8. Masking garlic odor: To mask the smell of garlic on your hands, rub your hands on stainless steel, such as the faucet or the handle of a stainless steel knife

Peeling Garlic Quickly: Place the garlic cloves in a metal bowl, cover it with another metal bowl (so it forms a dome), and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. The garlic skins will come off easily, saving you time and effort!
